$5 Million Drug Fine In Mayweather vs Pacquiao Contract
Monday, February 16, 2015– As we all site here waiting for the BIG announcement of Mayweather vs Pacquiao, the official announcement for the fight will happen any day now. Fight negotiations are almost done, a $5 million fine is in the contract if either party tests positive for use of illegal drugs. Pacquiao wanted this to be included in the contract because of Mayweather’s repeated allegations of using performance-enhancing drugs. Pacquiao also insisted that the deal for the fight was “almost done.”
Pacquiao told reporters at the House of Representatives in Filipino:
“I’ve no problem with drug testing. In fact, in the contract, I was the one who suggested the $5-million fine if one is tested positive for drugs. I was the one who inserted that because that’s needed”
Mayweather also stated:
“The negotiations are almost done. Let’s wait for them to announce the fight. We’ve agreed with the terms and conditions,” Mayweather said.
Mayweather also mentioned that neither party has signed the dotted line:
“I haven’t signed yet. He hasn’t signed yet, you know. It’s just been speculations and rumors. But hopefully we could make the fight happen,” he said.
Pacquiao was quoted on national television that yes in fact the fight is on and insinuating that the contract is signed for the fight.
“Pirma na lang niya”
Mayweather has his mind-set for May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entire boxing community would love for this fight to happen in 2015. If this fight happens this could generate over $250 million. With that being said, this fight should have happened years ago but I guess better now or never.
Below is an interview of Floyd Mayweather Sr. speaking to HustleBoss.com about his son fighting Manny Pacquiao and he also believes that the match might happen.
