TENNESSEE (Wed, May 17, 2017)– Before Ahva Mayi tries to win the UMMAF National Championship Tournament in Elizabethton, Tenn., May 26-28, LIVE on FloCombat, the top Tennessee prospect sat down with FightBookMMA.
What are your expectations for this tournament?
I expect to get first place and I expect to represent the United States at the UMMAF world championships later this year. I expect to dominate all of my opponents.
What does this tournament mean for you?
Oh man, this means a lot for my career. This is a huge amateur competition with ties to the UFC, so it’s going to put a lot of eyes on me. It’s going to look great on my resume, and I’m really looking forward to the exposure too. It will be a great experience.
Are you feeling any pressure?
No, I’m used to this. After I win this tournament, it will be 8 fights in less than a year. I’m fighting almost every month, so I’m used to it.
Do you have any words for any of the fighters in your bracket, if they’re reading?
There’s no point in showing up (laughs). But if you do show up, just make sure y’all have one hotel room booked for just one night, because you’re going home early. I appreciate you for coming, thank you for taking part — but this is my time.
