Las Cruces, New Mexico – American Fight League will host Southwest Brawl 8 at the Las Cruces Convention Center on Saturday, June 30 at 6 p.m. for local mixed martial arts (MMA) fans!
The AFL has a new operation called, “Fight for a Cause,” in which AFL will partner with local charities to give back to the communities their events are hosted in. For Southwest Brawl 8 AFL will continue to work with Team Mia to help support the Ojeda family as their daughter Mia Ojeda continues her battle with cancer. AFL has also partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region for the event.
The success of Southwest Brawl 7 allowed AFL to donate $1,000 to the Ojeda family after the event. They are once again looking for the support of the MMA community to make Southwest Brawl 8 successful ensuring another donation to the family. T-shirts will also be on sale at the event with proceeds going to Team Mia. When asked what drove AFL to continue to work with Team Mia J. Moore, the AFL COO, said:
“Mia is a true fighter and an inspiration. It is an honor and privilege to help and truly moving to see so many people come together to support this wonderful family. The AFL will continue to assist the Ojeda’s and spread Mia’s story to inspire others to continue to fight.”
The partnership between AFL and Big Brothers Big Sisters will allow for the Bigs or mentors to bring their Littles for a night out with a donated VIP table and a meet and greet with the fighters before the event.
“AFL sees this as a chance to give back to the youth in the community and encourage these kids to continue to fight for their dreams.” says E. Delgado CEO of AFL.
The scheduled card has 16 match-ups with four professional and twelve amateur bouts two of which are title fights. The fighters will come from all over the Southwest, including Juarez, El Paso, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Albuquerque and Lubbock to battle it out in the cage and support “Fight for a Cause.” Tickets are available at HoldMyTicket.com
