Former UFC heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer, commentator, and actor signs with WBKFF as the president of the organization, per Vice President, Paul Tyler.
No stranger to running the show, Rutten will now take on a whole new role with World Bare Knuckle Fighting Federation as their president, additionally, the coloured commentator for the live fights.
Once hosts of the Inside MMA show, Kenny Rice will now join Bas Rutten at the table, accompanied by Jimmy Lennon Jr., who will also be doing the in-ring announcing.
A work in progress, the legendary trio will now come together as the voices of WBKFF, as the promotion makes its debut in Casper, Wyoming this November 9th.
Making his professional mixed martial arts debut in September of 1993, and ranked a 5th degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate, 2nd degree black belt in Shintai Karate and 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo, Rutten brings a life time of knowledge to the WBKFF ring.
Bas Rutten: “I am super excited about our first show on November 9th,” newly named WBKFF president Bas Ruitten said. “Every single person I’ve talked to me who has heard about this event let me know what a crazy good card we have. I must admit, they are correct! I would love to talk about each fight on the card, but will do that in interviews coming up, so I will just mention a few right now. Brennan Ward versus Johny Hendricks as main event; two KO artists going at it, can’t get any better than that. Chris Leben versus Phil Baroni, both known for their KO’s in MMA, but now, bareknuckle? Sign me up! Shawne Merriman versus Mike Bourke; Merriman is a former NFL Linebacker with a crazy vertical leap of 41.5” (he’s a heavyweight!) facing off against Mike Bourke, a guy who everybody knows can hit. Josh Neer, who has 36 MMA wins with 32 finishes, against pro boxer Mike Alderete. And let’s talk about our lady’s fight. Pro boxer Jasmine Clarkson versus Christina Marks who has 10 MMA wins with 8 finishes. So, expect great competitive fights, and I hope to see you in Casper Wyoming on November 9th. If you can’t make it, please watch on PPV! Godspeed and bareknuckle on!”
Live from the Casper Events Center in Casper, Wyoming; WBKFF 1: ‘Rise of the Titans’, featuring Bas Rutten, Kenny Rice and Jimmy Lennon Jr. on the mic.
