Bellator 127 Preview
Bellator 127 is set to make its return to Southern California’s Pechanga Resort and Casino this Friday, October 3rd, airing on Spike TV. Featuring a Featherweight affair where the two California natives Daniel Straus with face off against Justin Wilcox.
Justin Wilcox (14-6-0) a former StrikeForce contender and collegiate wrestler will make his return to the Featherweight division. Wilcox has gone 4-1 since his debut under the Bellator Banner. Wilcox was victorious in his first two appearances in the Bellator cage picking up wins over Akop Stepanyan and Joe Taimanglo. Succeeding his strong start he collided against Patricio Freire where he suffered a devastating technical TKO loss midway into the first round. Next off, Wilcox returned to the cage and was able to bounce back pulling off unanimous decision victory over Jason Fischer at Bellator 114.
Daniel Strauss (22-5) is a former Bellator Featherweight Champion and Bellator Season 6 tournament winner; The 30 year old Strauss was riding an impressive 5 fight win streak until he suffered a loss after meeting Pat Curran for the second time, losing by way of rear naked Choke in the fifth round at Bellator 112 in March.
In the Co-main event will feature a Welterweight clash between Karo Parisyan (24-10-1) and Fernando Gonzalez (21-12). Karo Parisyan was originally scheduled to face Marius Zaromski however; he was rescheduled to face a new opponent at a later date.
Karo Parisyan a UFC veteran joined Bellator 3 years after his controversial exit from the UFC where it was reveled that he had an addiction to pain killers and tested positive for numerous types of banned substances including hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxymorphone. The 32 year old Parisyan bounced around under different banners until he found a new home with Bellator in 2013. Karo first made his debut under the Bellator banner in 2013 where he squared off against Rick Hawn, unfortunately he suffered a via TKO midway into the second round. Since then he managed to pick up two TKO wins over Ron Kessler and his latest win over Phil Baroni at Bellator 122.
Fernando Gonzalez (21-12) hailing from Menifee, California will be looking to pick up his second win in the octagon under the Bellator banner. Gonzalez made his debut at Bellator 122 in July picking up a (Unanimous) decision win over Karl Amoussou.
The 29 year old Brazilian Rafael Silva (21-4) will clash against former UFC and TUF contender Rob Emerson (16-10-1) in Bantamweight showdown. Since entering the Bellator cage Silva has gone 2-1 with notable wins over Rodrigo Lima and Anthony Lima. In his latest trip to the cage Silva replaced the injured Eduardo Dantas for a chance at the Bellator Interm-Batamweight Championship title facing Joe Warren. Due to missing weight the title was then taken off the table and he unfortunately lost by Decision.
Hailing out of Southern California Rob Emerson first appeared on The Ultimate Fighter 5 and then went on to fight in the UFC from 2008 to 2010. Since his debut into the Bellator cage he has gone 2-0. Picking up a submission win over Jared Downing at Bellator 104 and a decision victory in April when he battled Joe Taimanglo at Bellator 116.
Next off Christian M’Pumbu (18-6-1) will square off against Kendall Grove (19-14-1) in a Middleweight feature fight. M’Pumba Former Bellator Light Heavyweight champion, will be looking to get back on track after suffering 2 losses against Attila Vegh at Bellator 91 and his latest loss was by the hands of Quinton Jackson where he suffered a brutal knock out early in the first round at Bellator 110 earlier in the year.
The 31 year old Kendal Grove a UFC veteran and winner of The Ultimate Fighter 3, made his first promotional debut into the octagon at Bellator 104 in October of 2013. Kendal came out victorious in decision win over Joe Vedepo. Grove then entered into the Bellator season 10 Middleweight Tournament at Bellator 114 facing off against Brett Cooper however, he was unsuccessful this time around suffering a KO loss in the second round.
