(Wed, June 21, 2017)– MMA announcer and current member of the Bellator broadcasting team, Mauro Ranallo has been scheduled to be the lead play-by-play announcer the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match this coming fall, according to numerous news outlets. Ranallo has been well-known for his boxing commentary as he’s been announcing for Showtime Championship Boxing since 2012. Showtime spokesman Chris DeBlasio has also confirmed that there will be “guest” announcers to provide MMA analysis during the event.
As well as being a combat sports announcer, Ranallo has covered many different sports and entertainment such as hockey, Canadian football, and professional wrestling. He was also the lead play-by-play announcer for WWE Smackdown for over a year until he resigned due to allegations of bullying by fellow play-by-play commentator and former WWE superstar, John “Bradshaw” Layfield. As of this moment, he is scheduled to make his Bellator announcing debut this Saturday at the Bellator NYC pay-per-view.
