Bellator156 Galvao vs. Dantas Preview

Wednesday June 15, 2016 Bellator MMA makes their return to Fresno California with a packed card topped off with a battle for the Bantamweight Championship of the world. A rematch that has already been postponed twice is finally set to go down. Champion Marcos Galvao (17-6-1) is set to defend his bantamweight title against top ranked contender Eduardo Dantas (17-4), in their first fight Dantas got the KO finish over Galvao to become the champion, but after Eduardo lost the title Galvao regained it and the rematch was set in stone. In the co main event a welterweight banger between Chidi Njokuani (14-4) and Thiago Jambo (18-4) and with the recent defense by Andrey Korshkov the division is wide open for a new number one contender. Former middleweight champion Brandon Halsey (9-1) makes is return against John Slater (11-3), as like Korshkov and the welterweight division the middleweight division wide open with champion Rafael Carvalho recently defending his title a new contender needs to be crowned and a win from Halsey or Slater could make that happen. To kick things off on the main card another middleweight showdown between Mikkel Parlo (12-2) and Chris Honeycutt (7-1), Honeycutt looking to avenge his first lost which took place the last time Bellator was in Fresno. The prelims bouts start the card off with Javy Ayala (8-5) Vs Roy Boughton (14-7)- Chris Lewis (0-0) Vs Gil Medina (1-0)- Luis Jauregui (3-2) Vs Ryan Tobar (3-2)- John Paul Elias (3-0) Vs Joey Cabezas (5-8)- AJ Matthews (8-4) Vs Ben Reiter (16-1-1)- CJ Keith (8-3) Vs Carrington Banks (4-0)- Nick Bustamante (3-1) Vs Antoine Smith (2-5-1)- Paul Ruiz (6-3) Vs Christian Buron (5-0)- Jermaine Mcdermot (2-0) Vs Blake Watkins (5-0).

The main event features two of the best bantamweights in the world, Eduardo Dantas the former champion is coming off his first win after losing his title to Joe Warren, there is no doubt that Dantas is one the best fighters in the division and being a former champion he knows what it takes to reach the top. Going into this fight Dantas needs to stick to what got him the title in the first place and that’s by sticking to his strengths and to not be afraid to stand and bang. In his last two fights Eduardo has gone the distance so we know that stamina won’t be a problem, but anyone who knows Dantas knows that he is more than great on his feet as his submissions finishes are up there with the best. If Eduardo can push the pace and stick to who strengths that won him the title he should find himself crowned champion once again. If Dantas gets a late start and has problems getting out of the box it can be a long night for the former champion. The champion Marcos Galvao is riding a four fight win streak sense being dethroned by Dantas, and three out of the four have been finishes. There is no doubt that Galvao is deadly on his feet but like Dantas he can finish the fight on the ground. Another note to point out Is that Galvao defeated Joe Warren to get back the bantamweight title, Warren was the one to beat Dantas right after Galvao lost his belt. If Marcos can stay strong and look for the finish, there is no doubt that he will keep his title but if he gets careless Dantas will put him down once again. These are two of the best that the 135 division has to offer in all of MMA. Do not leave your seat.
