CES MMA, in association with Cage Titans FC, makes its long-awaited debut in historic Plymouth on Friday, Nov. 4th, 2016 with “CES MMA 39,” live from Memorial Hall, located just a stone’s throw from Plymouth Rock.
Known as “America’s Hometown” and the birthplace of New England, Plymouth is prominent in American history and folklore in addition to being one of the South Shore’s most sought-after destinations for combat sports.
“CES MMA 39” keeps the tradition with a star-studded lineup featuring the return of former Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and CES MMA veteran Chuck O’Neil (17-8, 6 KOs) of Bridgewater, Mass., who battles middleweight Wilfredo Santiago (6-3, 5 KOs) of nearby Lawrence in the main event.
Tickets for “CES MMA 39” are priced at $45.00, $55.00, $75.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and can be purchased online at www.cesboxing.com or www.cagetix.com or by phone at 401-724-2253/2254. All fights and fighters are subject to change.
O’Neil has won his last two fights following a loss in his middleweight debut in October of 2015. With a full year of fighting professionally at 185 pounds under his belt, he’s righted the ship with back-to-back wins over Dennis Olson and Roy Jones, the latter coming in August at “CES MMA 37” via first-round knockout at the 2:24 mark.
The hard-hitting Santiago has resurrected his career over the past year and a half with three consecutive wins, two by knockout. He stopped Ralph Johnson via first-round knockout in July of 2015 and later knocked out veteran Nuri Shakur in August, improving his record to 6-3 following a two-fight losing streak.
“CES MMA 39” features eight action-packed bouts, including a featherweight showdown between 25-fight vet Saul Almeida (18-7, 1 KO) of Framingham, Mass., and Abington, Mass., prospect Manny Bermudez (7-0, 1 KO), who puts his unbeaten record on the line.
The 27-year-old Almeida is a veteran of several prominent organizations, including CES MMA, World Series of Fighting (WSOF) and Bellator Fighting Championships. Nov. 4th will be his ninth under the promotional guidance of CES MMA and first since 2014. Bermudez, a longtime Cage Titans and CES MMA vet, returns to the cage for the first time since August when he defeated Rodrigo Almeida via first-round submission.
Also on the undercard, Quincy, Mass., light heavyweight Mike Rodriguez (5-1, 3 KOs) returns following an impressive network television debut at “CES MMA 38” in September to face New Hampshire’s Kevin Haley (5-3, 2 KOs) and Cage Titans vet Peter Barrett (6-0, 5 KOs) of Abington puts his unbeaten record on the line in a featherweight bout against Clearwater, Fla., native Jeremy Davis (3-0, 1 KO), also undefeated.
