Philadelphia, PA (Monday July 11, 2016)— There is a good reason why Cage Fury Fighting Championships is known worldwide as the premier fight club promotion up and down the east coast. Its reputation of solid fight cards with the most elite fighters in the tri-state area and beyond coupled with the fine ownership/management has earned CFFC this acclaim.
CFFC 59 promised to be an extreme bloodfest with warriors battling out for two titles: the vacant FW title and the highly-anticipated title defense between Emmanuel Walo and De’Alonzio “DJ” Jackson in this tough turf war. Unfortunately, this “battle of attrition” will have to wait as the fight was scrapped due to complications with Walo’s weight cut which required his being rushed to the hospital. Another highly anticipated fight between local favorite, Eddie Alvarez vs. Robbie Flores was scratched due to Flores not making weight. Additionally, Alfred Jones stepped up on nine days’ notice to save the Cafaro fight.at a 140 lbs. catchweight bout with Leodegarido Muniz.
Despite losing their much-anticipated title defense by Emmanuel Walo, CFFC 59 did not short change its fans. The war between Jared Gordon and CFFC’s 10 year veteran and Philly favorite, Anthony “Cheesesteak” Morrison, capped off the night of exciting fights to see both battle-worn fighters engage one another for the vacant FW title fight. Gordon, coming back for redemption after health crises, collected the CFFC featherweight world title with a destructive first round KO kick to Anthony Morrison’s dome depriving him of the coveted belt.
The stand-off between Timmy “The South Jersey Strangler” Williams, the consummate veteran who delivers carnage every fight, and Nah-shon Burrell, one of the top-notch MW fighters of the Northeast, also guaranteed to be a bloodbath and certainly did not fall flat for CFFC fans. Williams presented problems everywhere for Burrell and got the unanimous victory where all three judges scored 29-28 to continue “The South Jersey Strangler’s” reign of terror.
Who the hell is Anthony Terrell? He’s a local favorite and an exciting finisher who cemented his name in victory with a knock out that annihilated Robert Sullivan in the very first round. That’s who the hell is Anthony Terrell!
Girorgi “Little Godzilla” Kudukhashvili went head to head and toe to toe with Jesse Stirm. with an impressive array of solid leg kicks, take downs and ground n pound action to confiscate Stirm’s neck with a beautiful rear naked choke in the second round.
CFFC 59 Next Generation Fighter, Aaron Kennedy, improved his stat card by constant pressure, great defense, take downs and solid uppercuts which secured his win with a split decision against Cody Hier whose third round rally was a little too little too late.
Tyler Bayer, a north Jersey native, and Kyle Daukhas, out of Martinez BJJ, threw down their gauntlets and unleased their weapons. Daukhaus threw down repeated kicks to Bayer’s lower legs and body and showed lot of great movement. Maintaining his composure under attack, Daukhaus rendered repeated short elbow strikes in the clinch, kept up the pressure with knees and more knees and was victorious in this duel by securing the rear naked choke in the second round.
Weathering multiple strikes, stuffing takedowns and escaping submission attempts, Alfred Jones answered the battle cry in replacing Leodegarido Muniz and entering the cage with featherweight Ryan Cafaro. However, Cafaro took the victory win over Jones in the first round with his infamous guillotine choke.
Bobby Malcolm, out of Daddis Fight Camp, earned the victory against Woodmy Jean aka Jean DaGladiator, finally ending his losing streak with a unanimous decision victory.
