Conflict MMA 24
Tuesday, February 17, 2015– Conflict MMA Promotions returns to GFL on February 21 with their first show of the year, “Conflict MMA 24”, a mega card, emanating from the Memminger Auditorium in Charleston, South Carolina. “Conflict MMA 24”, promises to tear the house down with 17 pro/am bouts and multiple title fights as all the top fighters from the Dirty South will be squaring off in the cage in front of a rabid audience.
In the main event, in a pro featherweight battle, Jason Hicks (5-2) fights UFC and TUF vet Stephen Bass (9-2). Hicks is a veteran on the South Carolina MMA scene with numerous wins coming via submission and KO. Hicks is well-rounded and has KO power in both hands. Look for Hicks to come out on fire looking to get Bass into a shootout. Bass looks to get back to the UFC and an impressive win against a tough vet like Hicks will get him on the right path. Bass has a huge cage experience advantage and will look to take Hicks into deep water. Bass has solid cardio and only gets stronger the longer the fight goes on. Don’t blink when these two-step in the cage.
In other pro action, Jeremy Severn (4-2) takes on Justin Flood (3-1) in a 160lb bout. Severn is looking to get back on track after coming off a tough loss. Severn has proven to be deadly on the ground with all 4 of his wins coming via stoppage. Severn is a well-rounded fighter who is known for his submission game, but has also improved his standup and can hurt opponents with his fists or feet. Floods hails from Georgia and is a tough test for anyone. Flood has never been to a decision and looks to make this a dog fight with Severn and a war of attrition.
Mike Hazzard battles Sean Kilgus in a welterweight scrap. Both of these fighters are just beginning their pro career and this is a huge fight in a battle of blue chip prospects.
In the amateur ranks, for the Conflict Amateur Lightweight Title, Champion Lamar Brown (4-0) fights Kobe Wall (8-0). Brown is undefeated and this fight will be his second title defense. Brown is a durable wrestler who outworks his opponents in the cage and controls the action on the mat. Wall holds a title with another organization and is a dangerous challenger for Brown. Wall has 7 finishes in his career, (3KOs and 4 subs). Wall can end the fight standing with his solid boxing, or on the mat as he brings a well versed grappling game into the cage. This fight should be a fight of the night caliber scrap.
Also on the line, the Conflict 115lb Women’s Championship is at stake when Champion Ashley Samples (6-3) fights Charity Walker (5-3). Samples is a gritty fighter who has tons of championship experience to her credit. She carries KO power in both hands and has solid wrestling that lets her dictate where the fight goes. Walker has also won a title in her career and will be the toughest test in the career of Samples. She is an accurate puncher and kicker and will look to KO Walker early and add to the 3 KOs already on her record.
