Friday September 9, 2016— Ahead of Paddy Pimblett’s Cage Warriors featherweight world title bout tomorrow, leading bookmaker Paddy Power has priced up a future bout with the biggest name in the sport, the UFC’s Conor McGregor.
Paddy Power has offered a free charity bet at odds of 5-1 that Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett will beat Conor McGregor at some point in the future. The generous stake of £2,000 will stand to net Pimblett’s selected charity, Fight for Autism, a whopping £10k if the fight ever happens and he wins.
Pimblett is one of Europe’s hottest MMA prospects, famed for his quick wit and flying triangles. The 21-year-old Liverpudlian is in action tomorrow evening at Liverpool’s Echo Arena to contest the Cage Warriors vacant featherweight title. Former champions of the 145Ilb featherweight division are Jim Alers, Alex Enlund, and Conor McGregor who all went on to receive a call-up from the world’s biggest MMA promotion, The UFC. Pimblett too, is tipped for the top.
Paddy Power, a spokesperson for the bookmaker, said “Paddy’s not a lad who’s short on confidence and we were more than happy to give him a bet on himself when his management team reached out to us. Given his talent he’ll be circling the waters with the big fish in no time, and should he beat McGregor it’ll sting as much as his right hook but a great cause will benefit.”
Pimblett added, “I’m not afraid of anyone, I’ll take them on, anywhere, anytime – McGregor included!”
