Dana White Announces Suspensions And Daniel Cormiers Reaction To His Fight At UFC 187

Wednesday April 29th, 2015– Last night (4/28/2015) President of the UFC Dana White joined Jay Onrait on FOX Sports Live to explain the UFC’s decision and Dana White announced the suspension and stripping of the title for Jones. Dana spoke to Jones on Tuesday in Albuquerque, NM to get his side of the story before the promotion took any action against him.

“He didn’t say a lot. Obviously, he’s got to handle his legal proceedings,” White said. “His lawyer didn’t have him say much. What we wanted to find out is what the facts were. There’s a lot of things that are being said out there about what happened that day, a lot of them are untrue, a lot of them are speculation, and we wanted to hear Jon’s side of the story and we wanted to hear what his lawyer had to say about it.”

Michael Bisping and Kenny Florian interviewed Daniel Cormier regarding his news about fighting for the Vacant Belt. Cormier stated that he realized there might be an opportunity to compete at UFC 187.

“I followed the social media; people were kind of seeing that it was the fight that would need to happen if there was an opportunity,” Cormier said on FOX Sports 1’s “UFC Tonight” after news of the replacement bout surfaced. “Dana (White) and Lorenzo (Fertitta) called me and they told me right before it went public. I’ve been trying to kind of compose myself and contain myself. You start preparing, I’ve been preparing for my fight with Bader anyways, so I’ve kind of just been shifting my focus a little bit and maybe hoping another opportunity would present itself.”

Cormier also stated that he didn’t receive any pleasure out of Jon Jones misfortunes and that he hopes that Jones can “get it together” and would like for Jon to come back to the UFC for a rematch after he “defeats” Johnson for the vacant belt. Cormier said that he also sees flaws in Jonhnsons game.
