Tuesday March 1, 2016— One of the busiest fighters Page2Sports has had the privilege of covering is looking to get his belt back this weekend. Daniel “El Leon” Hernandez (18-11) will have a rematch against Daniel “Blackout” Madrid (12-4) for the middleweight title. Madrid beat Hernandez for the title back at King of the Cage: Sinister Intentions last October and broke his six-fight win streak.
Well, it would seem Hernandez has been focused on regaining the title and is sure he has made all the corrections he needs to make to get it back. Chris Rodriguez and the rest of the Blue Collar Sports podcast had the chance to sit down and talk with the hungry former champion about his loss and preparation for this weekend’s event.
When asked about the loss, Hernandez admits it was hard to watch but knows what went wrong.
“I was in great shape, I was ready for the fight last time”, Hernandez said “MMA is very unforgiving; there is very little room to make a mistake, then come back from that.”
His remedy to win seems to be drilling the bad positions he could possibly be put in and come out with the win. Being in bad positions is not something he has been used to with the wins prior to last October, so he trains for it with a lot of drilling to get him out of his comfort zone.
King of the Cage: Night of Champions goes down this weekend on March 5, at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. Check out King of the Cage’s website for full details, and listen to Hernandez’s entire interview with Blue Collar Sports below:
