Erick Da Silva who trains alongside Darren Till at Astra Fight Team will be replacing Abdul Kareem Al Selwady for the second time in Brave Combat Federation as he is set to face Guram Kutateladze at Brave 16. The bout will take place in the lightweight division marking the promotional debut of Guram Kutateladze who trains at All Stars Gym in Stockholm, Sweden. Initially Abdul Kareem Al Selwady who is undefeated in the promotion with four wins in each of his four appearances was set to face Kutateladze. However the lightweight sensation who trains at Fortis MMA in Dallas, Texas was withdrawn from the fight card amidst growing public demand to witness a super fight between Selwady and the undefeated lightweight champion, Ottman Azaitar. Selwady accepted the super fight while Azaitar kept his silence avoiding a potential confrontation against Selwady.
At the same time Da Silva stepped in for the second time to take the place of Selwady. Erick Da Silva had earlier stepped in to replace Selwady against Erik Carlsson at Brave 13 in Belfast since Selwady fractured his finger and had to withdraw from the fight. The only promotional loss for Erick came against Selwady during Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions hosted in Bahrain. The team mate of Darren Till had been chasing Selwady for aa potential rematch ever since.
The black belt in Jiu Jitsu from the Astra Fight Team was on a nine fight win streak prior to losing against Selwady by doctor stoppage. The bout against Kutateladze is critical for the Brazilian to improve his ranks in the highly competitive lightweight division of the promotion. “I got cut in the first round against Abdul Kareem Al Selwady from Jordan. That was the only reason the match got stopped. I am looking for a rematch against the Jordanian”, said Erick Da Silva during the post fight interview at Brave 13 in Belfast and by picking fights left behind Al Selwady, the Brazilian is tracking his next big hunt against Selwady.
