EMANUEL NEWTON VS. JOEY BELTRAN FOR THE BELLATOR LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE IN SEPTEMBER
By: Joey Blood
This September In Michigan, Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Emanuel Newton will defend his Title for the first time against UFC Veteran Joey Beltran in what will be a battle of two experienced MMA Light Heavyweights. Both fighters always go forward and both will be looking to finish.
Ever since coming to Bellator, Emanuel Newton (23-7-1) 7-1 in Bellator has looked pretty much unbeatable. He is on a 5 fight win streak and most recently won the Undisputed Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship by defeating Attila Végh by Split Decision. His creative striking and grappling skills is a problem for anyone he faces and we will see if he can do the same in September. If he wants to prove that he is a true champion though he will need an impressive victory over a real MMA Veteran.
His opponent is UFC Veteran Joey Beltran (15-10-1) 1-1 in Bellator is looking to steal Newtons thunder and take the Gold for himself. His Bellator Debut he was on the wrong side of a TKO when he faced Rampage Jackson, but he bounced back with a beautiful North/South choke against MMA Veteran Vladimir Matyushenko. Beltran has always showed great heart and very heavy hands. If he can land a clean shot in Michigan he can become the new King of the Light Heavyweight Division.
Which MMA Veteran will come out on top and take the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship home with them? We will find out September, 2014 in Michigan.
