Evolution Fighting Championships (EFC) 5: “Battle for Blood” Preview
Wichita, KS (May 8th, 2017)- Evolution Fighting Championships returns with its fifth installment dubbed “Battle for Blood” to the Kansas Star Arena this Saturday May 13th. If you can’t make it to the event, than head out to FloCombat.com so you can watch it online.
Headlining the event is one of the “OG’s” of the Wichita MMA scene in ace black belt in Jiu Jitsu Joe “The Nose” Wilk (19-11) who will look to grab his 20th win. The nickname “The Nose” is very fitting as he has his nose in all aspects of mixed martial arts. He will take on savy veteran and Kickboxing specialist Marcio Navarro. “The Locomotive” will look to get back on track following three straight losses against a hard-nosed Wilk.
In the Co-Main event will see a first of its kind making a new weight class that being Super-Welterweight (175lbs) for the EFC title and this will be fireworks featuring budding Wichita standout Chris Harris (8-1) will look to bounce back in front of his hometown after his first professional loss. Harris will take on Southeast Missouri standout out Kyle Kurtz who is also looking to bounce back from a loss under the Gateway Fight Series banner. With both of these guys fighting under the Bellator banner one things for sure you will see fireworks whether it’s on the feet or the ground so don’t blink.
Young up start Steven Nguyen (3-0) who has yet to taste defeat in neither the pro or ammy ranks will look to keep rolling as will take on Jose Levya (1-0) who is early on in his pro career and has been unfortunate to have two of his prior bouts cancelled so look for both of these young and hunger fighters to bring the heat Saturday night.
Kelsey Adkins who is set to make her pro debut gets a new opponent by way of Kaila Thompson who is also making her pro debut. Both ladies look to get their first W at the pro level so it will make for an entertaining fight.
To round out the main card fans will see Devon Schwan who will also be making his pro debut against seven pro fight veteran Chris Beal who looks to bounce back from his loss at XFO. These heavyweights will definitely let the leather fly.
I caught up with EFC Co Founder David “Caveman” Rickels earlier today and simply ask give all the fans a quote for this card.
“EFC is taking things to the next level, were doing exactly what we wanted from the get go and that’s evolving the game. We introduced two title fight this go round, one of which is in the Super-Welterweight (175lbs) division which is the very first time it’s been done in MMA. We want more weight classes to limit danagerous weight cutting.”
You can see the rest of the card below as the prelims will feature four kickboxing matchups that will make for exciting rounds without a doubt.
