Fabricio Werdum flagged for potential USADA violation

Today was announced that Fabricio Werdum has been notified of a potential anti-doping violation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Fabricio Werdum (23-8-1 MMA, 11-5 UFC) was going to face Aleksei Oliynyk (56-11-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 136 which takes place on Saturday September 15, 2018 in Moscow, Russia. This fight is now on hold until further notice.

USADA will now oversee the results and manage the process before making their final ruling. If USADA decides to go forward this will be the Brazilian’s first potential anti-doping violation.

UFC statement regarding Fabricio Werdum:

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Fabricio Werdum of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on April 25, 2018.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Werdum. Under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair legal process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
