Below you can read Andy Nguyen interview with FightBookMMA owner Roberto Villa.

Roberto: Hello Andy thank you for taking the time to talk with us again. How are you since you last talked to FightBookMMA (her last interview here)?

Andy: Hey Roberto! I’m fine thank you! Well, I defended my belt successfully and I went home to visit my family for the holidays!

Roberto: That’s really good getting away and visiting family is always a good thing to do. You have a calendar coming out next year with Andrea Lee, how is that going and when will it be available for the public:

Andy: Our calendar should launch by Black Friday, just in time to shop for your buddies! Lol

Roberto: I will keep that in mind. Lets talk about your next fight at Rizin FF. When I got the news about you fighting at Rizin FF I was thrilled that you got the call and I’m sure the rest of your fans and family were happy as well.

Your fighting at Rizin FF in December 29, 2016 as Cygames presents: RIZIN FIGHTING WORLD GRAND-PRIX 2016 indiscriminate class tournament 2nd ROUND. You will be fighting in the same card as Mirko Cro Cop, Wanderlei Silva, Shane Carwin, Amir Ariakkubar, Charles “Crazy Horse” Bennett just to name a few.

You defended your Atomweight KOTC Belt at King of the Cage: Social Disorder that took place back in Oct. 8, 2016 in SLOAN, IA, and won by Referee Stoppage by devastating knees in the 3rd round.

How long after that win did you get a call from Rizin FF that you will be fighting on their card?

Andy: I originally told the CEO of KOTC (Terry) that I’m done fighting until 2017. He wanted me to fight in New York but it wasn’t as appealing than to not see my son & niece. Terry calls back with the Rizin offer and I will be representing one of KOTC’s Champ! And of course I said YES! I mean, New Years Eve is practically 2017! Lol! So I decided to stay home for the holidays and train in SC for this bout.

Roberto: That’s really good when a promotion you fight under helps you get a fight for other promotions. You will be fighting under the RIZIN Women’s MMA rules: 5 minutes 3R / interval 60 seconds fighting at 49.0kg/108lbs. Is the weight cut easier for you fighting at 108lbs since you fight at 105lbs at King of the Cage?

Andy: I’m still learning my body however, the last cut was the easiest I’ve ever had. I’m glad this fight is at 108lbs! Those THREE POUNDS means the world to me! Hahahahah! Plus with traveling and jetlagging, this fight at 108lbs is a gift from God.

Roberto: Making weight can be challenging but there’s no doubt you will make-weight. What are your thoughts about your  opponent Miyu Yamamoto?

Andy: This will be Miyu’s 2nd pro fight. Shes a phenomenal wrestler. Shes also a southpaw. She will be my 3rd southpaw opponent back to back that is trying to take me down. Very respectable competitor. I’m honored to share the same dreams and ring with Miyu under the Rizin banner.

Roberto: Excellent. When do you plan on flying out to Japan?

Andy: I’m assuming we will fly out after Christmas to Tokyo Japan.

Roberto: How excited are you about fighting overseas?

Andy: I’m SO EXCITED! I’m walking out in a pink Cowboy hat as Karate Mafia’s Donny Aaron’s signature. Andrea KGB Lee will be fighting in January also so they can’t go since the trip is over a week-long.

Roberto: You have to represent since they won’t be there with you. What’s next if you win at this event with Rizin FF?

Andy: I hope to make an impression for Rizin so they would want me back like they wanted Krazy Horse to do Shoot Boxing. It’s a gateway for me that’s how I see it. I’m just fighting one fight at a time but 6 pro fights under 2 years is pretty active to me! Lol!

Roberto: Keeping busy in the cage is always good as long as your injury free. So the following questions are just some, well, like Blake would say on his podcast at The Loaded Joe’s MMA Podcast, some random ass questions.

Roberto: What is your favorite food?

Andy: Sushi/Sashimi or fish

Roberto: Other than fighting, what hidden talent or talents do you have?

Andy: I do have a hidden talent! I can dance like a stripper but I haven’t found the one guy I want to give a lap dance to! Lmfao!

Roberto: Well with that answer I’m sure you will have guys calling and knocking at your door pretty soon! Any sponsors or shout outs you would like to give, anyone you want to thank.

Andy: I want to thank Terry Trebilcock for giving me this opportunity to represent KOTC. Donny Aaron for building me into a professional. Andrea KGB Lee for being herself. Paul Hedjuk for believing in me since my ammy days and Lub Mma for lubbing (loving) me lol.

Roberto: Andy thank you so much for taking the time to talk to us again. We are huge fans of yours and looking forward in seeing you fight at Rizin FF.

Andy: Thank you for having me! I love you guys!
