Former KSW featherweight champ Artur Sowinski (18-10) is stepping back up to lightweight and will face an extremely tough test in the shape of Kamil Szymuszowski (16-5) at KSW 46 in Gliwice, Poland on December 1.
Sowinski has been a staple of KSW since making his promotional debut at KSW 14 in 2010. Since then he has appeared fifteen times in the KSW arena, fighting for the lightweight title and lifting the featherweight strap during that time. He holds career wins over Lukasz Chlewicki, Fabiano Silva, Anzor Azhiev, and his is the only person since 2009 to beat Kleber Koike Erbst. The 30-year-old is fan favourite in Poland due to his fighting style and attitude outside the cage and is also a former opponent of Conor McGregor.
Kamil Szymuszowski might not be a name well known outside of Poland but he has established himself as one of the top lightweights in the country with wins over WEC & UFC veteran Maciej Jewtuszko, Gracjan Szadzinski, and recent UFC signing David Zawada. The 28-year-old nearly worked himself into title contention but was submitted in title eliminator at KSW 41. Now with a win over Sowinski he could put himself back in the mix at lightweight.
KSW 46 will be headlined by the much anticipated rematch between the legend Mamed Khalidov (34-5-2) and KSW light heavyweight champion Tomasz Narkun (15-2). The pair met earlier this year as we saw Narkun come from behind and end Khalidov’s twenty fight KSW unbeaten streak in what is a ‘Fight of the Year’ contender. The co-main will see undefeated lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot (14-0) goes for a second title as he faces submission ace Kleber Koike Erbst (24-4-1) for the vacant featherweight title.
KSW 46 will be available to watch live around the world via www.KSWTV.com on December 1
