Sunday October 11, 2015– On Friday, Oct. 8, GLORY hosted GLORY 24 and GLORY SuperFight Series Denver from Magness Arena in Denver. The five-fight card for GLORY 24 aired live on SPIKE TV.
GLORY 24 was headlined by middleweight and American kickboxing star Joe “Stitch ‘Em Up” Schilling he fought against Dutch technician Jason “Psycho” Wilnis.
In the first round, Schilling was dominating the round giving a lot of pressure on the Dutch fighter. In the second, Schilling again started strong and got a knockdown, after the ref count, Jason Wilnis came back landing shots that rocked Schilling. Before the third round started, somewhere in the second round Jason Wilnis hurt his foot and he couldn’t apply pressure on it. The third round was waved off by his corner and ref.
At his post fight interview, Schilling gave a shout out to #FreeNickDiaz and he stated that champion Artem Levin was ducking him, calling for his title fight rematch.
In the co-main event of the night, Adegbuyi and Wilnis fight was nothing but a brutal war and they were fighting at high altitude. Both fighters stopped their semi-final opponents, and these two were non-stop with constant combinations.
Wilnis almost scored a stoppage in the third round, Adegbuyi was able to regain his composure and come right back in the fight. It was a close fight between the two and were determined not to lose.
In the final ten seconds of the last round, the two traded huge shots back and forth, still looking for the knockout. This was one fight that fight fans need to re watch it was a very intense moment.
The fact that the fight went the distance is show a heart and toughness of both fighters. The judges’ decision: two had Adegbuyi as the winner, the other saw the fight for Wilnis.
This win earns Adegbuyi a second shot to challenge Rico Verhoeven for the belt at GLORY 26.
In the Glory Superfight Series, Greene was pressing forward constantly and was dictating the pace and towards the end of the first round he was taking control of the fight. Greene knockdown Ambang which ended the round but Ambang was saved by the bell.
In the second round, Greene again with the pressure on Ambang, but in the mid-round found himself on the ropes. Greene stepped in with a big right knee to the jaw that rocked Ambang, and followed with more punches and knees that staggering Ambang backwards to fall against the ropes.
Ambang looked unsteady and the referee was unwilling to let him continue, waving the fight off and awarding Greene the win by way of knockout at 1:38 in the second round.
In the final fight of the Superfight Series card, Robert ‘White Dragon’ Thomas met newcomer David Radeff.
This fight was fairly close to start with but Thomas soon found his range and rhythm. He was landing right-knees to the body, that landed over and over that hurt his opponent.
There was occasional success for Radeff but Thomas was the clear winner in each round. It was good fight giving Thomas the win by SD.
