Gunning for Brave title shot, Lucas Mineiro opens new gym with Brazilian celebrity

After a stunning promotional debut at Brave 3, with a submission win over Fabian Galván, Lucas “Mineiro” Martins was set to challenge Featherweight champion Elias “Smile” Boudegzdame. However, he was forced to withdraw due to an injury. Now focused on his return, and hoping for a title shot, the Brazilian expanded his business with the inauguration of a new gym, called Capital da Luta (Fight Capital), in São Paulo, in partnership with local businessman and celebrity in his own right Alexandre Correa.

Representing Chute Boxe Diego Lima, “Mineiro” opened the new space to accommodate his own students, as well as friends and family and will continue to train with the likes of Thomas Almeida, Felipe Arantes, Charles Oliveira and Brave Bantamweight Felipe Efrain.

“This is a dream come true for me, my family and my partner Alexandre. He’s a very well-known name in Brazil and MMA is his passion and part of his daily life since before our partnership. Now, we have a space to accommodate my students near my home and I’m very excited. Doors are open to everyone who wants to do martial arts training and to our friends at Brave Combat Federation”, says Lucas “Mineiro”, who guarantees the opening of a new gym hasn’t taken his focus off the title shot.

“I’ve been training a lot, and it hasn’t slowed me down at all. I’m ready to become champion and to prove I’m the best Featherweight on Brave”, claims the Brazilian.

His partner, businessman Alexandre Correa claims Capital da Luta is a new concept of fight gyms and will provide students with different martial arts, including physical preparation. The idea came from watching “Mineiro” interact with students.

“We will have plenty to offer in martial arts and physical training. The whole idea came from watching the time and dedication that Lucas puts in with all his students. He’s not just an amazing fighter, he’s a true master of his craft and his students needed that space. He needed a home to call his own and I’m confident it will be a massive success”, claims Correa.

If the title fight between champion Boudegzdame and challenger Martins does come to fruition, it is expected to take place at Brave 9: The Kingdom of Champions, when the promotion returns to its home in the Kingdom of Bahrain for a groundbreaking fight card featuring its biggest stars. Brave 9 will be the culmination of the International Combat Week, alongside the IMMAF World Championships, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
