Heavyweight Miller Feeling Confident Heading into
Nationally Televised Showdown Against Donovan Dennis
Friday January 22, 2016— Undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller (15-0-1, 13 KOs) is beaming with confidence heading into tonight’s nationally televised showdown against Donovan Dennis (14-3, 11 KOs).
Miller and Dennis will meet in a televised 10-round co-featured bout for the NABA Heavyweight Championship at Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, and live on ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME (10:35 p.m. ET/PT).
The tripleheader of televised action features undefeated middleweight Rob “Bravo” Brant (18-0, 11 KOs) of St. Paul, Minnesota, taking on Atlantic City’s Decarlo Perez (15-3-1, 5 KOs) in a 10-round battle for the NABA Middleweight Championship and undefeated Kazakhstani power puncher Bakhtiyar Eyubov (9-0, 9 KOs) facing Jared Robinson (16-2-1, 7 KOs), of Sumter, South Carolina in an eight-round welterweight bout to open the telecast.
Tickets for “Boxing at Casino Del Sol”, which is promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions and Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions, are priced at $25, $40, $75 and $100, and are available through the Casino Del Sol Resort web site (www.casinodelsol.com). Miller, who is co-promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions and Salita Promotions, says he’s on the right track with his boxing career.
“I got some buzz off the last fight (a KO 3 over Uzbekistan’s Akhror Muralimov
Last October), but the big time is just a matter of time for me,” said Miller. “After every fight, things pick up. Showtime has taken notice of me, so I’m definitely taking steps in the right direction. I’ll just keep racking these wins up and winning spectacularly.”
Miller admits training didn’t go as well as hoped, but isn’t overly concerned about it.
“It definitely wasn’t the easiest camp. Injuries are part of the game and so are ups and downs. Camp wasn’t perfect, that’s for sure, but that’s how it is. Real warriors keep it moving. I’ll go in there and do my job and move onto the next. My real goal is to be the headliner in my next fight. Every fight is motivation to move onto the next level for me.”
According to 27-year-old Miller, the recent resurgence of American heavyweights has been something of a mirage… at least until he ascends to the throne.
“I think it’s a great time for American heavyweights, but to be honest a lot of them are full of it. Some of them have heart, but a lot of them don’t have much skill. My day is coming and a lot of these top contenders and champions are going to get washed off the list. I’m taking everybody out.”
And as for tonight’s opponent, Miller has a bold prediction: “I’ve watched Donovan Dennis on tape a bit and… I’m going to hurt him bad.”
