Thursday January 22, 2015- UFC Fight Night 63: Mendes vs. Lamas set in Fairfax, Virginia’s Patriot Center on April 4th, has had a bit of a shake up with its card. What was meant to be a lightweight co-main event between Jorge Masvidal and Bobby Green is no more. Green had to withdraw from the event due to injury, so Green is out and Benson Henderson is in.
Benson Henderson, you know him, former WEC and UFC lightweight champion. Well he’s been on a bit of a slide as of late, dropping 3 of his last 5 fights, including two in a row (Cerrone and dos Anjos). To be fair to Benson in the talent rich UFC lightweight division, it’s not hard to slip a little bit, and Jorge Masvidal is no get over fight either, he is a tough opponent for anyone at 155.
Conversely, Masvidal is on a three fight win streak over the likes of, James Kraus, Daron Cruickshank and Pat Healy. If he is able to get a win over the former champion that will most certainly help Masvidal’s chances to get more high profile fights in the future.
