Invicta 22 Packed a Huge Punch

Kansas City, Mo (March 26, 2017)– Tonya Evinger and Yana Kunitskaya 2 for the Invicta Bantamweight Championship. The second installment of this matchup had a very unique feel inside the Scotish Rite Temple.

From the opening bell it was clear that Evinger wanted to get the fight to the ground immidately going in for a double leg it was Kunitskaya that was able to attempt a guillotine Evinger was able squirt free. The fight got back to the ground as Kunitskaya attempted a flurry of different leg locks but Evinger once again showed her resilience getting to side control and finishing the round with some good ground and pound work. The second was like the first with “Triple Threat” getting the fight to the ground ultimately taking Kunitskaya’s back and sinking in a deep rear naked choke and getting the tap at the 4:32 mark of the second round.

In the Co Main Event featured Atomweight champion Ayaka Hamaski taking on Livia Renata Souza. From the outset it was Souza that looked as if she was fighting with a chip on her shoulder. Souza landed a huge right hand that was on the button that instantly dropping Hamaski to the canvas. Where Souza was able to ground and her way to what was a late TKO stoppage from referee Mike England at the 1:41 mark of the very first round.

Vets DeAnna Bennett and Jodie Esquibel went to battle for all three rounds in very techinally sound bout that saw each competitor land some great shots but it was Esquibel that was able to pick up the split decision victory over a very game Bennett.

Wolve’s Den product and St. Louis native Ashley Cummins was opposite of veteran Amber Brown. As i had mentioned in the preview this would be my pick for Fight of The Night and these two gutsy fighters did not disappoint. It was the strong stiffling ground game of Cummins the allowed her to get the upper hand over Brown. Once on the feet the two exchanged shots throughout the bout with Cummins landing with more power and accuracy picking up the unanimous win and calling for a title shot in her in cage post fight interview.

Young Springfield, Missouri prospect Miranda Maverick took on Kal Holliday and was able to pick up the submission victory at 3:01 in the very first round. Though for Maverick this will be a great learning lesson as she has missed weight in both of her professional fights.

Sunna Davidsdottir and Mallory Martin had a great back and forth three round affair that had both combatants wearing it at the end of the fight. It was Davidsdottir picking up the unanimous decision victory.

To open the night it was Felicia Spencer and Madison McElhaney putting in work and taking it all three rounds. With Spencer grabbing the unanimous decision win.
