Jon Jones injured forced out of UFC 178 will now be rescheduled to UFC 182 on January 3rd

One of the most anticipated grudge matches in UFC history is now going have to wait. Champion Jon Jones (20-1 MMA, 14-1 UFC) was initially set to take on the undefeated Daniel Cormier (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) at UFC 178 however Jon Jones has now suffered an injury including a torn meniscus in his knee, as well as a sprained ankle. The Light heavy weight Championship battle is now been rescheduled to UFC 182, which will take place on January 3rd in Las Vegas. This has been the second time the light heavy weight belt match has changed Jon Jones was originally set to face Alexander Gustafsson but was canceled due to a knee injury.
UFC 178 was expected to have a co-main flyweight title fight between Champion Demetrious Johnson (20-2-1 MMA, 8-1-1 UFC) and challenger Chris Cariaso (17-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC), it is now expected to be the headlining main event for the night taking place on Sept. 27 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Due to the change in the main event, UFC officials are offering ticket refunds to those interested. The deadline for such an exchange is Aug. 22.
