Former lightweight title challenger Luan “Miau” Santiago has a return date set. The explosive striker will take on dutch powerhouse Djamil Chan in a main card bout at Brave 18, set for Khalifa Sports City, in Isa Town, Bahrain, on November 16th. It will be the first international bout for the brazilian star.
Santiago is coming off the first loss of his Brave career. He was beating fellow brazilian Lucas Mineiro on the scorecards before a dislocated elbow on the dying seconds of the fight ended his hopes of becoming Brave interim lightweight champion at last april’s Brave 11, in Belo Horizonte, Brasil. Before that, “Miau” was elected as 2016 Brazil’s Fighter of the Year and one of Fighters Only’s prospects to watch in 2018. He also has two first-round knockouts to his name at Brave.
Chan, meanwhile, is coming off the biggest win of his career. Making his promotional debut at Brave 14, the dutch striker broke the record for Brave’s fastest-ever KO, needing only 29 seconds to beat Alejandro “Pato” Martínez, who has fought for the undisputed lightweight title in the past.
“Miau” is the fourth brazilian fighter confirmed at Brave 18. Flyweight Marcel Adur will look to become Brave’s first divisional champion against Velimurad Alkhasov, while Felipe Efrain challenges bantamweight champion Stephen Loman. In the main event, interim champion Lucas “Mineiro” will look to unify the lightweight title against challenger Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady.
