Charlie Leary’s performance against Daniele Scatizzi at Brave 9 opened eyes around the world as the Englishman spoiled Scat’s debut at Lightweight with a third-round TKO. Former UFC fighter Norman Parke was impressed with Leary and called him out during the event through social media.
“Stormin’ Norman”, who’s TUF Smashes winner, used his Twitter feed to say he was down to face the Team Crossface product in the next Brave event after watching the video of Leary finishing Scatizzi with a brutal right hand and some ground and pound.
However, the Northern Ireland-born Lightweight wasn’t the only big name calling out for Charlie Leary. After a frustrating fight week where he fell ill during his weight cut and couldn’t fight for Brave’s Featherweight world title, Brazilian Lucas “Mineiro” Martins set his sights on a Lightweight bout and “chose” Leary as a possible first opponent in his proposed new weight class.
Through his social media profiles, the Chute Boxe Diego Lima fighter, who was cageside for Brave 9, said he wanted to test himself against the “giants” of the division above his and praised Leary for his performance against Scatizzi.
“Hey, Brave, I want to test myself against the giants from the division above mine. Charlie Leary would be a great test! He had a great fight at the last event and got himself a nice KO. I feel we could put on a great show in this weight class”, claimed Martins.
With no visible challenges, and having lost to new champion Ottman Azaitar before his breakthrough performance against Scatizzi, Charlie Leary might have put himself on the radar for some of the world’s top Lightweights for his next Brave bout.
