Matt Bessette: “I’m What The UFC Wants!”

RHODE ISLAND (Sat, May 13, 2017)–  After defending his CES MMA World Featherweight Championship with a decisive TKO win over Rey Trujillo on Friday night, LIVE on AXS TV Fights, the champ Matt Bessette checked in with FightBookMMA.

How do you feel about how everything played out last night?

My head hurts a little bit. We collided heads a couple times, so I’m a little lumped up. Other than that, I’m good. His two best shots were with his head (laughs).

Are you aware that last night you became the first fighter in CES MMA history to successfully defend their title twice? How does that feel?

As soon as I was told that I would become the first fighter to defend their title twice if I won, I knew there was no way I was going home a loser. I’m breaking records; let’s do this shit (laughs)!

If UFC president Dana White is reading, what would you like to tell him?

Here’s my phone number — call me (laughs)!

What can you offer the UFC?

They’re going to owe me so much money because I’m going to be getting performance bonuses every single fight. That’s just how I fight. I can’t not fight like that. They’re going to have a lot of people excited to see me fight, so they’re going to tune in. I’m what the UFC wants. I’m a hungry fighter who goes out there and puts on a show and I can win wherever. Winning is all I do.

Is the UFC where you’re fighting next?

Yes, 100 percent. One-hundred percent.
