Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera Fighter Interview, Herrera vs. Lundy at LA Sports Arena – July 11th

Monday June 29, 2015– The summer showdown between Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera (21-5, 7 KOs) and “Hammerin'” Hank Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs) of Philadelphia, PA is only 2 weeks away. FightBookMMA.com had a chance to sit with him to talk about his upcoming fight which you can listen below.

Herrera vs. Lundy battle for the NABF Super Lightweight Championship in a 10-round super lightweight bout from the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles will be televised live on HBO Latino beginning at 11:00 p.m. (live ET/PT). 2012 U.S. Olympian Joseph “Jojo” Diaz Jr. (16-0,10 KOs) will open up the HBO Latino telecast in a 10-round featherweight bout against former WBC Silver Featherweight Champion Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado (22-4, 15 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua.

Currently ranked as one of the top ten super lightweight fighters in the world by the WBA and the WBO, Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera has made a name for himself in boxing, taking on some of the toughest opponents and earning the interim WBA World Super Lightweight, the IBF North American Super Lightweight and the USNBC Super Lightweight and Welterweight titles along the way. 2014 was a busy year for Herrera as he faced off against undefeated unified super lightweight world champion Danny “Swift” Garcia on March 15 for the WBA and WBC Super Lightweight World Championship only to lose via a controversial majority decision that many critics thought Herrera had won. Later on July 12, Herrera earned the interim WBA Super Lightweight title when he dethroned Johan Perez via a majority decision. Fresh off a contested decision against Jose Benavidez on Dec. 13 in Las Vegas, Herrera lost the interim WBA World Super Lightweight title and is now determined to take the NABF title on July 11. Herrera’s professional resume includes impressive victories over former WBO Junior Welterweight World Champion Ruslan Provodnikov and former standout Mike Dallas.

Mauricio “El Maestro” Herrera will participate in the ceremonial coin toss at the first semi-final game of the 2015 SocioMX Cup between two of the most well-known Mexican soccer teams Cruz Azul F.C. and Pumas UNAM on Tuesday, June 30 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, ahead of his fight on July 11 against”Hammerin'” Hank Lundy at The Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
