Wednesday April 29th, 2015– San Diego-based fighters, Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (28-1-1, 16 KOs) and Carlos Molina (17-2-1, 7 KOs) held a special workout session today at House of Boxing, ahead of their upcoming anticipated headlining bout tomorrow Thursday, April 30 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, Calif.

On the undercard, Puerto Rican rising star Jeffrey Fontanez will take on former WBC Youth World Super Featherweight Champion Jose “El Loco” Hernandez of Fort Worth, Texas in an eight-round lightweight brawl. Also on the card, fan-favorite and Irish power puncher Jason Quigley is set to take on a yet-to-be-announced opponent in a six-round televised middleweight bout.

Coming off of a recent hard-hitting victory at LA FIGHT CLUB earlier this month, Brazilian Olympic Bronze Medalist Yamaguchi Falcao will face a tough competitor in Houston’s Gerardo Ibarra in an eight-round non-televised middleweight match-up. Just announced, Gennady Golovkin, the current WBA & IBO Middleweight World Champion, will be in attendance tomorrow night in support of his friend Ruslan Madiyev who will be fighting in a 4-round super lightweight bout.

As a special treat to fans, former Three-Time World Champion Fernando “Ferocious” Vargas will also be in attendance to host a meet and greet at the Fantasy Springs Special Events Center prior to the bouts on April 30 at 6:00 p.m. The FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes broadcast airs live at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.

Welterweight prospect, Sadam Ali of Brooklyn, New York remained undefeated this Saturday against a tough Francisco Santana in the opening TV bout of Klitschko vs. Jennings on HBO World Championship Boxing. Ali improved his record to (22-0, 12 KOs) after scoring a 10-rounds unanimous decision win over Santana with scores of 97-93, 97-93, and 100-90.

Less than a week after Lucas Matthysse took on Ruslan Provodnikov in what could be the 2015 Fight of the Year, the Boxing Writers Association of America presented Lucas Matthysse vs. John Molina with the Muhammad Ali/Joe Frazier Award for the 2014 Fight of the Year last week on Friday, April 24. Golden Boy Promotions Partner, Bernard Hopkins was present to accept the award on behalf of both fighters.
