Miguel Torres make debut at Glory kick boxing 17
Miguel Torres (41-7) a former WEC bantamweight champion and UFC fighter, has signed a one night contract debut at GLORY 17 Los Angeles on June 21 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. Torres will participate in a four man tournament. Torres is expected to compete against Yodkhunpon Sitmonchai, Gabriel Varga and Shane Oblonsky at Glory 17 in the Featherweight contender tournament.
The 33 year old Torres successfully defended his bantamweight title in WEC three times before a loss to Brian Bowles at WEC 42. At WEC 47 Torres faced and was ultimately defeated by Joseph Benavidez, via guillotine choke midway in the second round. Torres then faced Charlie Valencia on September 30, 2010 at WEC 51 winning the fight via submission in the second round.
He then went on to the UFC accumulating a 2-4 record with his last loss via TKO to Michael McDonald at UFC 145 in the first round.
This will be Torres first attempt to fight professionally as a kick boxer however; he has had an extensive boxing and Muay Thai background and trains at Tristar gym under Firas Zahabi.
Torres now will join the list alongside Mirko Cro Cop and Pat Barry of former UFC/MMA fighters to make the jump into Glory kickboxing.
