New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame to honor Mike Straka with the “MEDIA” award

New Jersey (Wed, September 21, 2017)- The New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame is extremely proud of its sixth class of inductees to the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame. This class will be honored at the sixth dinner gala to be held at The Event Center in iPlay America in Freehold, NJ on December 1, 2017.

On December 1st, Mike Straka will be inducted as MEDIA.

Mike Straka is one of the pioneers of MMA TV coverage. He hosted Fox Fight Game in 2001, when he was Vice President at Fox News Channel. It was among the first mainstream media coverage of the burgeoning sport of Mixed Martial Arts, lending a credibility to the sport that was not seen prior. He then hosted Fighting Words with Mike Straka on Mark Cuban’s HDNet, where he did one-on-one interviews with the biggest names in MMA, including Dana White, Frankie Edgar, Randy Couture, Jon Jones, Scot Coker and dozens more. He is the author of Fighting Words — based on the show — and Rowdy Rousey: Her Fight To The Top — about the UFC’s first woman champion. Straka was co-host of Spike TV’s MMA Uncensored Live, co-host and creator of TapouT Radio on SiriusXM — with TapouT founders Punkass and Skrape, and has been a columnist for Fight Magazine, UFC, World Series of Fighting and AccessMMA.com. He is also the MMA commentator on CBS Radio’s Ferrall On The Bench nationally syndicated program. He is currently the host of MMA Noise on Loudernoise TV. Mike has been a journalist at CBS News, Fox News, ABC News, E Television and NBC Sports Net. A New Jersey native, he was a wrestler at Monsignor Donovan HS in Toms River and Rutgers University. He began training martial arts at the age of five, and holds black belts in Kenpo and Tae Kwon Do. He continues to train at Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City. He is the father of two daughters.
