OKTAGON 51 to implement Open Scoring at final show of 2023 in Prague

OKTAGON MMA is once again breaking barriers and setting the standard by introducing Open Scoring for all of the fights at OKTAGON 51 on December 29 in Prague.

Tickets for this event can be purchased by going here: https://www.o2arena.cz/events/oktagon-51/

The judges’ scores will be announced to the fighters and their corners after each round of a bout, in contrast to traditional scoring where the scores are completely opaque until the conclusion of the fight.

We believe this will allow fighters and their teams to implement and amend their strategies during a fight, based on how the judges have assessed their performance. In turn, this will create more transparency and

“We will introduce open scoring to OKTAGON MMA on December 29th, at our final show of the year in Prague,” said Co-found and Owner Pavol Neruda.

“We will be happy to be the first organisation to do this. We think it’s the right thing. Really, our thinking is why not? We don’t really understand why it is not open already. We think it will bring more excitement, for the fighters and the fans.

“Vemola had this controversial fight with Kincl  – five rounds, kind of boring, but he thought that the way he was fighting was winning him the fight, so he kept those tactics. If he had known he was losing (on the judges scorecards), it would have been a very different fight. I’m super excited to see how the fights play out with the fighters knowing where they stand on the scorecards.

“We have prepared special graphics so the crowd will be able to see how the scores are going, and we really believe that it will add a whole new level of excitement for the fans.”

The event at the 02 Arena in Prague is headlined by the European MMA Champions League final with the conclusion of the Tipsport Gamechanger competition featuring Bojan Velickovic and Andreas Michailidis, with the winner becoming the best welterweight in Europe and earning €300,000.

Light-heavyweight champion Karlos ‘Terminator’ Vemola will bring the curtain down on his illustrious career in a rematch with Samuel ‘Pirat’ Kristofic.

Fans can look forward to a fierce duel between fan-favourite Škvor and the most experienced German fighter of all time, Martin Zawada, as well as other well-known fighters such as Ryšavý, Surdu, Roušal, ‘Fidži’ Fiala, and German OKTAGON Challenge finalist Shaaban.
