Friday September 12, 2015– On January 17th, 2016 The UFC undisputed Bantamweight champion of the world Tj Dillashaw (13-2) defends his title against #2 ranked Bantamweight in the world Dominick Cruz (20-1). For all fight fans this is a dream match come true, two men with a very similar fight style, and two men who are not the biggest fans of one another square off for the gold. Cruz who recently was cleared to begin training got his wish to fight TJ for the title, but any true MMA fan knows that Cruz is always bitten by the injury bug. The Former champion had to relinquish the belt do to Injury a few years back and with the dominance of Renan Barao, and the resurgence of TJ Dillishaw, Cruz knew he would have to earn his title shot back.
Cruz who is a veteran to the MMA world has 20 wins including some big win over some big names such as Urijah Faber, and the UFC Flyweight Champion and possibly the best pound for pound fighter on the planet Demetrious Johnson. With his last fight in September of 2014 at UFC178 Cruz earned a victory over Takeya Mizugaki, but tore his ACL and found himself right back on the shelf.
Tj Dillishaw bursted on to the seen on the Ultimate Fighter. Loosing in the finale to top flyweight contender John Dodson. Even with the loss The UFC knew they had a hell of a talent and boy were they right. After the loss to Dodson, Dillishaw won 4 straight before a loss to Raphael Assuncao which stopped his streak, Tj wasted no time getting back in the win column by beating Mike Easton and earning his title shot against The champion at the time Renan Barao. With their classic fight ending in a 5th round TKO Dillishaw was crowned champion. After a bunch of injuries between Barao and Dillishaw himself they finally locked back up again in 2015 at UFC Chicago, were the champion earned himself a dominant victory and finally shut up all the critics.
Now the time for talk is over and these to rivals will square off for the gold. Cruz who is looking to show the world that he is not always injured and that he is still one of the best fighters in all of MMA. The Champion Tj Dillishaw is looking to keep things rolling by shutting up Cruz and adding another name to his record. This fight will be very technical, a true MMA fight.
