ROAD Fighting Championship announces plans to hold its first ever all women’s Mixed Martial Arts event

5 January, 2016 ROAD Fighting Championship is excited to announce plans to hold its first ever all-women’s Mixed Martial Arts event.  Women’s participation in the sport of MMA has exploded globally, yet the fighting tradition has been set in Asia for decades.  Some of the best female MMA fighters come from Asia, and most recently Korean female fighters have shown their numbers and strength.

ROAD FC has been proud to launch the careers of such promising young women as Park Ji-Hye, Lee Yi-Ji, Park Jung-Eun, and Song Ga-Yeon.  Home-grown female fighters Ham Seo-Hee and Kim Ji-Yeon are now making international waves.  Plus, some of the most notable Japanese women have fought in ROAD FC, such as Satomi “Sarami” Takano, Emi Tomimatsu, and Satoko Shinashi.

ROAD FC expects even more of the best international talent to take part in this all-women’s MMA event.  Bouts will be held across multiple divisions.  The date of the event will be announced later; it is expected to be held shortly after summer.

ROAD FC General Manager Mark Lee stated:

“Women’s MMA has seen huge growth around the world in recent years.  Korean female fighters have developed into remarkable athletes as well.  ROAD FC is excited to promote an event dedicated solely to spotlighting women in Mixed Martial Arts.”

Xiaomi presents ROAD FC 028 – Riki Fukuda defends his Middleweight Title against Cha Jung Hwan

The next event, ROAD FC 028 will be held on 31 January at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea.  The Main Event will be Middleweight Champion Riki Fukuda (23-7-0-1)  making his first title defense against Korea’s number one-ranked welterweight, Cha Jung-Hwan (11-6-3).

Riki Fukuda cut a clear path to the ROAD FC Middleweight Championship in 2014 and 2015.  The consummate UFC veteran dispatched all comers to end up on a 4-fight win streak of finishes.  Earning the championship belt meant earning a 6-figure paycheck as well, and fans can bet that Riki isn’t willing to relinquish either anytime soon.  His grinding aggression will surely be turned up a notch as he meets an unlikely – and tricky – first challenger in Cha Jung-Hwan.

Cha Jung-Hwan is one of Korea’s most notable fighters, with knockouts over such stellar opponents as Ryo Chonan and Igor Gracie.    His most recent win was a decision over the highly-respected Alexandre Barros, which set right back-to-back Draws with Andrews Nakahara and Luis Ramos.  Cha, who is the coach of ROAD FC Featherweight Champion Choi Mu-Gyeom, is a well-rounded, brutal and yet tactical fighter who brings an interesting twist to Fukuda’s tank gun attack.

ROAD FC is the stage where legends shine, rookies thrill, and epic battles are waged that determine the future of MMA. From the pageantry of the grand entrance to the final crunch of the KO, ROAD FC showcases the very best of Mixed Martial Arts sports and entertainment. As we say in Korea, “Fighting!”
