Road to Abu Dhabi: Russia
Saturday November 21, 2015– December 12 Abu Dhabi Warriors feeder event series, Road To Abu Dhabi, is coming back and 4 new fighters will be fighting for 2 tickets that will grant them entry to the main event in Abu Dhabi.
Warriors partnered with Russian based organization Pankration which will held its event on December 12 in Khabarovsk, Russia. Road To Abu Dhabi fights will be held in the welterweight division at the Platinum Arena which has capacity of over 7.000 spectators.
Colourful international cast will be present at the show, with Carlos Moyano (5-2) representing Colombia, Yoichiro Sato (16-6) from Japan, Tahar Hadbi (10-6) from Algeria and Russia’s Rustam Bogatirev (12-6) who will be fighting in his home town.
Two of this four challengers will join Mubariz and Gonzalez who secured their spots on ADW 4 at the inaugural Road To Abu Dhabi event earlier this year.
Carlos Moyano turned professional in 2012 and has since fought 7 times. He has a pro record of 5-2 and is currently riding on a 2 fight winning streak. He spent his whole career in Colombia’s biggest promotion SFC (Striker Fighting Championship) and now he is coming to Russia where he’ll face experienced Japanese, Yoichiro Sato (16-6) in Road To Abu Dhabi event in Khabarovsk.
Sato will be by far the greatest challenge Moyano has faced in his career. He’s done his share of fighting on the home soil, now it is time to test himself against the international rivals.
Hadbi was enjoying a superb 5 fights win streak in last 3 years just to have it stopped this September at an event in Europe. He’ll have to show his best in order to bounce back as he faces hometown favourite, Rustam Bogatirev (12-6).
Born in Algeria, Hadbi is a decorated grappler and former French Pankration Champion. He has never submitted his opponent in his professional career, while on the other hand, Bogatirev has 6 career submissions. Is it time to change that?
Sato (16-6-2) is the most experienced fighter on the roster with 24 professional fights in his career and also the one with the best current win streak. Since April 2012, Sato has won 8 fights and only lost 1. He’s a former Shooto Pacific Rim middleweight Champion and Pancrase veteran.
He has never been submitted in his career which started in 2008. It will be interesting to see how he will cope with the style of Moyano who’s coming from Columbia. Sato has fought exclusively with Japanese and South Korean fighters, this will be his first non-Asian fight.
28-year old Rustam Bogatirev is the only fighter on the card that has previous experiences in Russian Pankration. Even more than that since all his 18 professional fights took place in the Russian promotion. He tops every loss with two victories and holds a 12-6 record, 10 of those with stoppages.
He’s been 10-1 from 2008 till 2011 but has since lost 3 of his last 4 fights versus highly skilled opponents. Fighting at home in front of several thousand fans might help him stop the decline and redirect his career in more positive direction.
Rustam fought only once per year for the last three years so his encounter with Hadbi will be only his 4th since 2012.
