ROBIN VAN ROOSMALEN MEETS SITTICHAI SITSONGPEENONG
IN GLORY 25 HEADLINE BOUT FOR LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE
Friday, November 6 at the PalaIper in Monza, Italy
New York, NY – GLORY, the world’s premier kickboxing league, today announced the headline bout for GLORY 25 Milan on Nov. 6. The PalaIper in Monza, Italy will host GLORY Lightweight World Champion Robin “Pokerface” van Roosmalen (34-6-0, 19 KO) defending his belt against GLORY 22 Contender Tournament winner Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong (99-27-5, 26 KO).
The Dutch title holder is riding a three-fight win streak under the GLORY banner, most recently defeating rival Andy Ristie at GLORY 20 Dubai in April.
“I’m going to pressure [Sitthichai]. He doesn’t like being put under pressure and pushed backwards,” said van Roosmalen. “It will be a great fight and I look forward to keeping hold of this belt for a long time.”
The challenger from Thailand stormed onto the scene in his promotional debut at GLORY 22 Lille in June, knocking out former lightweight champion Davit Kiria and notching a dominant unanimous decision victory over young contender Josh Jauncey in the same night to earn his No. 1 ranking and title shot.
“It is very difficult for an orthodox stance fighter to withstand the the damage from my powerful left kicks,” said Sitthichai. “[Van Roosmalen] is tough and has good heart; he will be harder to hurt than my past opponents. He is also dangerous, a heavy puncher.”
The recently announced bout match-up between returning Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan (78-2-1, 35 KO) and 22-year-old rising star Josh Jauncey (23-5, 12 KO) will serve as the co-headline bout for GLORY 25 Milan.
Additional bouts for GLORY 25 Milan, including GLORY’s one-night, four-man Welterweight Contender Tournament will be announced at a later date. The tournament winner will earn the next shot at GLORY Welterweight World Champion Nieky Holzken.
The organization’s next pure striking event, GLORY 24 Denver, takes place on Friday, Oct. 9 and is headlined by No. 2 ranked middleweight and American kickboxing star Joe “Stitch ‘Em Up” Schilling (19-6, 11 KO) battling world No. 3, Dutch kickboxing specialist Jason “Psycho” Wilnis (24-5-1, 6 KO) in a pivotal bout for the division’s title picture.
Tickets for GLORY 24 Denver are on sale now, priced at $150, $50, and $35. Tickets are available for purchase at denverpioneers.com/tickets and the Magness Arena box office.
