ROSS PEARSON VS. GRAY MAYNARD SET FOR UFC FIGHT NIGHT 47
By: Joey Blood
UFC Fight Night 47 will be held on August 16th, 2014 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Originally the Co-Main event was supposed to be Ross Pearson vs. Abel Trujillo,Trujillo however suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight. His replacement comes in the form of #4 Lightweight Gray Maynard. Both fighters are Ultimate Fighter Veterans and both will look to finish the fight as soon as possible.
After a really controversial Split Decision loss to Diego Sanchez in June, Ultimate Fighter season 9 winner Ross Pearson (15-7-1) 7-4-1 in UFC will get a crack at another Ultimate Fighter Veteran. If he wants to stay at the top of the Lightweight ladder, he needs a win on August 16th. Pearson has always been at the top of the ladder but he seems to always just be outside that top 10 door. If he wants to make that next step he will need a very impressive win at UFC Fight Night 47.
His opponent is filling in for the injured Abel Trujillo. Ultimate Fighter Veteran Gray Maynard (11-3-1-1) 9-3-1-1 in UFC has been a title challenger before and is looking to get back to his winning ways and try and climb that ladder once more. This fight is a must win for “The Bully” who has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights with all 3 losses coming by KO/TKO. If he wants to save his job and show everyone that he is still a true contender, then he has to make a decisive point at UFC Fight Night 47.
Which Ultimate Fighter Veteran will emerge victorious? We will find out August 16th, 2014 at UFC Fight Night 47.
