Joey Roberts wins major June tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, as a result then qualifies for USA Jr. Muay Thai team of 12, set to compete in the Jr. Muay Thai World Championships Aug. 3 -11 2017 in Thailand. At 4-1 as a novice, Joey Roberts in his latest victories impressed the right people and now leaves for Thailand tomarrow, with his coach Pete Peterson of RoundKick Gym in Urbandale, Iowa. Roberts has been training full-time at the RoundKick gym since march of this year.
In 2016 Roberts competed in same World Muay Thai expo winning by 2 TKO’s, then dropping a decision in the finals to a very good Arshiyam Kanwar, in which Kanwar also had tko’d every opponent in tournament, until meeting Roberts. In June 2017 Roberts won that exact same tournament all by tko, in such devastating fashion, and that”s what caught the eye of U.S. Team.
Earning this opportunity now, could open the door too much more substantial options in the future when you consider the fact that there will now be an olympic Muay Thai team at the next Olympics, so this is huge for Roberts and team RoundKick. There will be a link, for the Thailand stream on Youtube.com posted on their Facebook Page, if you wish to view the World Championships. Roberts wanted to thank his sponsor at KRYOVITALITY for serving his recovery needs. Stay tuned for more updates!
