Well the fight that was meant to take place over a year ago will be happening January 3rd, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship as Ronda Rousey will be defending her title against #1 contender Cat Zingano at UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier.
We all know the story, Zingano beats Miesha Tate for the head coaching slot on The Ultimate Fighter and more importantly a title shot at Ronda. We also know as easily plans are made, plans go awry. Cat Zingano badly injures her knee, has to pull out of the TUF slot and her title shot and that isn’t the worst of it. Miesha Tate gets the TUF coaching gig and the title shot, while Cat starts her long road back from professional and much harder personal tragedy. An awe inspiring and gritty TKO winning performance against Amanda Nunes at UFC 178: Johnson vs. Cariaso marked her return to the Octagon.
Ronda…well she was busy being Ronda, beating Miesha Tate, Sara McMann and Alexis Davis in that time to become with no doubt one of the UFC’s more dominant champions. Not a whole lot more to say about her.

Light Heavyweight Championship: Jon Jones (C) vs. Daniel Cormier
Women’s Bantamweight Championship: Ronda Rousey vs. Cat Zingano
Welterweight: Hector Lombard vs. Josh Burkman
Lightweight: Evan Dunham vs. Rodrigo Damm
As more fights are announced, we will keep you posted.
