SMASH VIII: “Night of Champions” fight card for Thursday Dec. 13th

SMASH VIII will take place on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles, CA. For more information on this event you can go HERE.

We give the sport of mixed martial arts what it deserves: The class and luxury of boxing, the raw excitement of professional MMA, and the extravagance of a black-tie gala into one can’t-miss event.

The event will have Hollywood Stars walking the red carpet taking them inside the Taglyan Complex and they will have the opportunity to see some amazing MMA fights. Below you will find the updated fight card. Fight card is subject to change without notice.

In the main event, Joash Walkins (13-1 ) will take on Flavio Carvalho ( 6-1 ) in the 135lbs division. Joash also known as “The Honey Badger” is a young and a very experienced fighter. He started practicing martial arts from the tender age of eight years old. By the time he turned ten years old, Joash was already the National Judo champion of Trinidad and Tobago. He won bronze medal at the 2004 Central American Caribbean Junior Games. Flávio is ranked 48th of 221 active California Pro Lightweights and is also ranked at 43rd in the Featherweight division. Carvalho is fighting out of Goiania, Goias, Brazil training at Kings MMA. He’s not new fighting for SMASH Global as he went against Soslan Abanokov at Smash Global 7. This fight went the distance and ended in a draw so he’s coming into this fight to have his first win under the Smash Global banner.

In the co-main event of the evening, we will see Keron “Natural Bourne Killer “Bourne ( 6-0 ) take on Jammal Emmers ( 13-4 ). Keron is fighting out of Trinidad And Tobago. Bourne is ranked 2nd of 39 active Caribbean Pro Bantamweights. He’s been undefeated with a record of 6-0 in his professional career. In his last fight he went against Lucas Borregales at Trinidad And Tobago Regional and defeated him with a unanimous decision win. He will be looking to keep his win streak alive at Smash Global VIII.

Also on the card we will see Shoehei Yamamoto ( 6-4 ) fighting out of Los Angeles, California training at UWF USA will take on Chris Stone ( 5-1 ) fighting out of Port Orchard, Washington Gig Harbor Mixed Martial Arts in the 155lbs division. Yamamoto is ranked 40th of 221 active California Pro Lightweights while Stone is ranked 66th of 451 active US West Pro Lightweights. Yamamotos last fight was at CXF 13 as he took on Ivan Castillo and defeated him via unanimous decision.

We will also see Martin “The Fighting Fireman” Joseph ( 4-0 ) fighting out of Trinidad & Tobago taking on Andrey Vasylenko ( 2-1 ) fighting out of Woodland Hills, California training at Hayastan MMA in the 205lbs division. Joseph is a very experienced fighter since he started practicing martial arts from the early age of 13 years old. By the time he turned 16 years old, Martin was already the National Karate champion of Trinidad and Tobago. Joseph is ranked 4th of 25 active Caribbean Pro Light Heavyweights. Vasilenko is ranked 28th of 77 active California Pro Light Heavyweights. He’s also not new fighting under the Smash Global banner as he took on Gabriel Vian at Smash Global 5 defeating him via TKO in the second round.

Also on the card is Steven “Relentless” Newell ( 9-0 ) fighting out of Harrison, Ohio training at Astra Fight Team will have to wait and see who his opponent will be. His last fight was against Lucas Oliveira back in 2016 at Paulão Fight winning via unanimous decision.
