StrikeZone Muay Thai Fight Night : The Strikers’ Cup 14
Saturday June 25th, 2005 – The Event Center in Pennsauken NJ, (quickly becoming a fight sport destination), hosted StrikeZone Promotions for their event, StrikeZone Muay Thai Fight Night : The Strikers’ Cup 14. Overseen by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, the card featured 9 total bouts. The main event would be crowning a 140 pound champion.
The night was filled with back and forth action, tough fights, and even tougher fighters. You can read the full results following our photo report.
We will start with the main event, and then, run down the rest of the card in chronological order.
140 lb Ultimate Striker Championship Title fight
Neil Mustafa vs. Adam McCann
This fight was a barn burner. It featured 4 two-minute rounds. It was a back and forth affair, with the fighters splitting the rounds, for a majority draw. Both fighters scored knock downs; both fighters flurried, and at times seemed poised to take the fight, but neither had any quit in them. They fought valiantly.
As announcer, Mike Brown, read the score cards, the crowd roared. They hushed momentarily when he announced the final score card, cementing the draw. Only to cheer even louder, clearly recognizing that the fighters left it all in the cage.
Derek Riddick, owner and promoter
Derek Riddick, New Jersey fight promoter and owner of Strikezone Promotions, says he would like to see a rematch on an upcoming show to settle the title. Meanwhile, Strike Zone’s next show, Strikers Cup 15 will be held September 27th. Riddick is hoping to feature his female 126 lb champion, Diana Zhivala defending her belt against an as yet to be named opponent.
