Burkman has resigned with the UFC.
The former WSOF champion reignited his career with a stellar showing over perennial elite contender Jon Fitch after a run through several smaller organizations and being dropped by Zuffa in 2008. During his first stint inside the Octagon Burkman went an even 5-5, including wins over guys like Drew Fickett and Josh Neer.
The UFC has not made Burkmans return an easy one, as he is slated to make his appearance at UFC 182 in January against #6 ranked ATT standout Hector Lombard. Having lost only a single fight since 2011, Burkman will more than get the opportunity to showcase his reinvented approach, and a win over Lombard no doubt launches him immediately into the deep end at 170.
UFC 182 takes place January 3rd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a long awaited title fight between pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones and undefeated contender and former Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier.
