Francisco Armenta & Miguel Angel Madueño latest additions to Thompson Boxing

ORANGE, Calif. (Dec. 2, 2016)Thompson Boxing Promotions signed two Mexican prospects with extensive amateur backgrounds – welterweight Francisco Armenta and junior welterweight Miguel Angel Madueño.

Armenta and Madueño will have their first professional fights early next year on a Thompson Boxing show in Southern California.

“I’m really happy and motivated to start my career as a professional,” said Armenta, who had approximately 250 fights as an amateur. “I think boxing fans will enjoy watching me fight. I like to press the action. My goal is to become a world champion and I won’t stop until that happens.”

“I’m excited for the doors that this will open for me,” said Madueño, who appeared in roughly 230 amateur fights. “I’m a boxer that likes to throw a lot of punches. Fans are going to like my style. It’s every boxer’s dream to be a world champion and that’s what I want.”

Both Armenta, 22, and Madueño, 18, won the majority of their amateur contests and both captured numerous national and regional tournament titles in their native country. They currently belong to one of Mexico’s most renowned boxing academies – Centro de Alto Rendimieto de Boxeo in the city of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.

The academy, which prepares its students for careers in boxing, also consists of an academic and civic component that strives to develop sold citizens out of its alumni.

For a behind the scenes look at the contract signing:

“Francisco and Miguel are ahead of the curve in terms of their development,” said Ken Thompson, president of Thompson Boxing. “They each excelled in the amateur ranks and now it’s time for them to make their marks as professionals. We are looking forward to Francisco’s and Miguel’s professional debuts, which could come as early as February.”

Armenta resides in Los Mochis, while Madueño lives in Guasave, Sinaloa. Both are managed by Roberto Sandoval.
