According to the Las Vegas Review- Journal, Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero have an agreement in place to clash for the co-main event at UFC 178 September 27th card in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC 178 will to be head lined by a highly anticipated championship rematch between Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson September 27th card in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tim Kennedy (18-4) a former Strikeforce contender, has had a 3 fight win streak since his debut in the UFC 162 in 2013 against Roger Gracie. Since then the #6 ranked Kennedy has picked up notable wins over Rafeal Natal and his latest dominating performance over Michael Bisping back in April. A win over Yoel Romero can easily shoot him up the ladders and close to a title contention.
Yoel Romero (8-1) first caught our attention in April of 2013, when he first debuted at at UFC on Fox 7. The 37 year old Romero earned the fight night bonus with a remarkable first round win when he knocked out over Clifford Stark with a flying knee and KO punches. The 11th ranked Romero has since continued with his four fight win streak with wins over Ronny Marks, Derek Brunson and his latest with a decision win over Brad Tavares. He will be looking to shoot up to the 10 rankings in the 185 pound division with a win over Kennedy.
