UFC 178 MEDICAL SUSPENSIONS

Now that the dust has settled after UFC 178 this past Saturday and it is now time to assess the damage, Time Kennedy has suffered an orbital injury after his loss to Yoel Romero, he restricted from contact for a minimum of one month and will need to receive clearance from a doctor and can face up to 6 months. After a yearlong lay off Cat Zingano will also need clearance for an upper back injury and can face up to 6 months. There was a total of 12 injury suspensions handed out by the NSAC following the action at UFC 178.

The full list of UFC 178 medical suspensions includes:

Eddie Alvarez: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days

Dustin Poirier: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days

Yoel Romero: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days

Tim Kennedy: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days; additionally, must clear left orbital inferior blowout fracture with ophthalmologist or plastic surgeon or no contest for 180 days

Cat Zingano: must have upper back cleared by a doctor or no contest for 180 days

Amanda Nunes: suspended 45 days with no contact for 30 days for left eyebrow laceration

Takeya Mizugaki: suspended 60 days with no contact for 45 days

James Krause: suspended 45 days with no contact for 21 days

Stephen Thompson: must have right eye cleared by an ophthalmologist and right hand X-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor or no contest for 180 days

Jon Tuck: must have right shoulder and right foot cleared by a doctor or no contest for 180 days

Cody Gibson: suspended 30 days with no contact for 15 days
