Check out the analysis below for UFC 188: Velasquez vs. Werdum.
Tecia Torres vs. Angela Hill
Tecia Torres is a very well rounded fighter and with pressure and a little bit of mixed strikes and takedowns, she can overwhelm hill and score more points. Her heart and will seem to always make her an interesting fighter to watch, and no doubt a key performance against Angela will boost her up in the rankings and secure her a possible title shot.
Angela hill seems to be a very technically sound stand up fighter. Her keys to the five are to mix up her boxing and stay on the outside while using her footwork to step away from the storm that Tecia Torres brings. Use her head movement to set up jabs and keep fighting at a distance, score points and secure a win.
Rodriguez vs. Rosa
Extremely excited for these two prospects.
Rodriguez has a huge arsenal of strikes he uses to keep his opponents guessing, he slips in and out very well and keeps a constant pace. His key to the fight is to work in his striking and keep the fight standing, stay grounded and set up his punches and kicks rather than lunging in with a kick.
Rosa is a very scrappy fighter that holds a similar style as Rodriguez. He mixes up his kicks and punches very well and is very good off of his back and on using his wrestling. His keys to the fight is to get inside and pressure Rodriguez against the cage and work him to the ground
Gastelum vs. Marquardt
Gastelum is back up to middleweight in hopes of making a title run there, he is a very well rounded fighter that resembles the style of the king himself. His keys to the fight are to mix up his stand up and neutralize the explosiveness nate has when under pressure. Use leg kicks and mix in some td to keep Marquardt guessing
Marquardt is a veteran in the ufc that has fought the best of the best. His experience gives him an edge and his key to the fight is to remained composed and let Kelvin come in and initiate his counter striking and explosiveness.
Melendez vs. Alvarez
Waited a long time for this one
Melendez is a world class fighter that is having a hard time losing only in title fights. His experience and fighter iq always seem to edge his opponents as he adjusts very well into opposing game plans. His key to the fight is to use his boxing and set up combinations to keep Alvarez guessing. Take him to the ground and implement his GAP.
Alvarez is coming off a tough loss against the current title contender in cerrone. His key to the fight is to initiate the fight and set the pace. He needs to get inside and mix it up with Melendez who fights a little bit taller than Eddie
Velasquez vs. Werdum
Velasquez has been facing gruesome injuries and is coming off a long layoff. His tenacity and heart make him to be one of the most intense fighters in the ufc roster. His key to the fight is to pressure and use crisp striking. Make werdum tire and capitalize on the space that werdum leaves with his hands down.
Werdum has resurrected his talents and became an all around threat to any one in the division. His key to the fight is to use his reach and create space to use his jab and keep cain on the outside, remained composed and look for subs when and if cain manages to take him down.
