Sunday September 6, 2015– On Saturday night (9/5/2015) two of the UFC light heavyweight contenders stepped Into the octagon and battled like two Warriors. Anthony Rumble Johnson who is currently the #1 ranked light Heavyweight contender in the world was in some say a must win to set in stone his next shot at the title. That’s exactly what he did in the main card bout At ufc 191 against the poster boy Jimi Manuwa.
Two of the hardest hitters in the division both looking for a shot at greatness stood toe to toe in the middle of the octagon. With rumble coming out aggressive in the first round with some bombs and a very much improved wrestling and ground game Jimi was overwhelmed. As the first round wore on Manuwa worked way back to stand up position and into the second round. Some do like to knock rumble for coming out guns blazing and tiring himself out.
That was not the case last night as the second round begun rumble came out with clean and powerful strikes landing and shaking the confidence in Manuwas game. After a trip to the mat and an escape rumble closed in on his victory with a huge kick the body that shook Jimi. Following the kick was a clean right hand the connected and as Manuwa was falling back his eyes rolled back, once he hit the mat rumble followed with two hard blows to the head. The ref had seen enough and called the stop. Overall Jimi Manuwa is a great fighter but may have bitten off a little more than he could chew but still has a great future ahead of him.
In My opinion a fight against Ovince St Preux would be a great fit for both fighters. What’s next for the #1 ranked light heavyweight contender in the world, is no less than the winner of the Cormier vs Gustafsson. Johnson walked into this fight #1 and with the knockout stated his claim that he should stay number 1.
