BROOKLYN (Sat, February , 2017)– Live from the Barclay center In Brooklyn the UFC made their return to NYC with a ground breaking main event. The 145 pound women’s featherweight division is the 3rd division for women to open in the UFC, and what a way to kick things off with crowing the first ever featherweight champion. Former bantamweight champion Holly Holm will face Muay Thai champion Germaine De Randamie, and for Holm a win at UFC208 will not only crown her the new queen of the 145 pound division but it will snap her two fight losing streak. After defeating Ronda Rousey to become champion Holm has lost the only two fights she has ever lost in her combat sports career, and there is no better way to right the wrong by defeated Randamie. As for Germaine she is no stranger to being a champion, but now having her first crack at UFC gold there is no doubt that The Iron Lady is going to bring all she’s got. Germaine has only lost one fight in the UFC and that was to the current 135 pound champion Amanda Nunes. With these two ladies at the top of their game, they will fight to win gold and make history. This is one you won’t want to miss. In the co main event the GOAT himself Anderson The Spider Silva took on the dangerous Derek Brunson. Silva hasn’t earned a decision in his last 5 fights, with a couple of finishes and close decision loses The Spider finds himself in a must win if he ever wants another shot at gold. Standing in front of him is a KO expert in Derek Brunson. Brunson was on a roll until he his last fight where he was finished by Robert Whittaker, Brunson knows with a pact division a finish over the former king would put him right back into the mix. A huge fight in the middleweight division as #2 ranked middleweight in the world Jacare Souza was tired of sitting on the bench and offered and open challenge for UFC208 and one man jumped at the opportunity, The Barbarian Tim Boetsch. Jacare is putting it all on the line, and Boetsch has nothing to lose. The winner of this war will be even closer to the next crack at the title. In the light heavyweight division top 5 ranked Glover Teixeira puts his top ranked status on the line against rising star Jared Cannonier. Glover is looking to bounce back after his crushing defeat to Rumble Johnson, and as for Cannonier there Is no better way to crack the top 10 with a big win over Teixeira. A lightweight war between Dustin Poirier and Jim Miller. Randy Brown takes on Belal Muhammaed in the welterweight division, and a big flyweight fight between Wilson Reis and Ulka Sasaki. All the action kicked off on The UFC Fight Pass before heading over to FS1. After the prelims were wrapped up the action kept rolling on PPV. A historic night in MMA live from Brooklyn New York.

LET’S GET THINGS STARTED.

The action kicked off in the welterweight division as Ryan Laflare (12-1) took on Roan Carneiro (21-10). The hometown hero was finally healthy, and Ryan Laflare took it to Carneiro in all aspects of the fight. A sweep on the scorecard and Laflare walks out a victor. Winner: Ryan Laflare (13-1) by Unanimous Decision (30-26,30-27,29-28). – Loser: Roan Carneiro (21-11). As the prelims roll onto FS1 we kick things off in the featherweight division as Rick Glenn (18-4-1) took on Phillipe Nover (12-7-1). A close fight that goes the distance but it was Rick Glenn that did enough to seal the deal. Winner: Rick Glenn (19-4-1) by Split Decision (30-27,29-28,29-28). – Loser: Phillipe Nover (12-8-1). Next we head to the lightweight division were Nik Lentz (29-7-2) took on Islam Makhachev (13-1). Another 3rd straight fight that goes the distance and this time it was Islam Makhachev that stepped up to a higher level of competition and didn’t miss a beat. A complete sweep on the scorecard. Winner: Islam Makhachev (14-1) by Unanimous Decision (30-25,30-25,30-27). – loser: Nik Lentz (29-8-2). Next we head to the flyweight division were #5 Wilson Reis (21-6) took on Ulka Sasaki (19-3-2). A big night for Wilson Reis as he dominated Sasaki through 2 ½ rounds but a late surge by Sasaki almost ruined the perfect night for Reis but on the score card it was a clean sweep. Reis could have just punched his ticket to face the champion Demetrious Johnson. Winner: Wilson Reis (22-6) by Unanimous Decision (29-28,29-28,29-28). – Loser: Ulka Sasaki (19-4-2). In the featured prelim bout we head to the welterweight division were the red-hot hometown boy Randy Brown (9-1) took on the late replacement Belal Muhammad (10-2). The decisions keep coming and this one was a banger as Brown at times had his moments but it was Belal Muhammad that consistently broke Brown down with big leg kicks and a strong ground game. Winner: Belal Muhammad (11-2) by Unanimous Decision (30-27,30-27,29-28). – Loser: Randy Brown (9-2).

The main card kicked off In the lightweight division as UFC veteran Jim Miller (28-8) looked to make it four in a row when he took on #10 Dustin Porier (20-5). What a war to kick off the PPV! Porier was swinging for the fences at times but landed a lot of significant strikes. Dustin also injured his leg pretty bad in late in the fight but Miller didn’t capitalize the way that he should have and he never really got comfortable enough to be affective and it cost him the fight. Winner: Dustin Porier (21-5) by Majority Decision (28-28,30-27,29-28). – Loser: Jim Miller (28-9). Next we head to the light heavyweight division were the upcoming star Jared Cannonier (9-1) has the shot of a lifetime when he took on #3 Glover Teixeira (25-5). A big step in competition for Cannonier and it showed as Glover Teixeira put on a clinic on the ground and on the feet. A beautiful bounce back performance for Teixeira. Winner: Glover Teixeira (26-5) by Unanimous Decision (30-26,30-26,30-26). – Loser: Jared Cannonier (9-2). A big one in the middleweight division as #2 Jacare Souza (23-4) took on the Barbarian himself #13 Tim Boetsch (20-10). Jacare Souza does it again. Big ups to Time Boetsch but Souza is on a tear. Another 1st round submission finish for Jacare, Boetsch did everything he could but never stood a chance once the fight got to the floor. Winner: Jacare Souza (24-4) by Submission (Kimura) Round 1. – Loser: Tim Boetsch (20-11). In the co main event we stay in the middleweight division as the GOAT and former middleweight champion of the world The Spider #7 Anderson Silva (33-8) took on the dangerous #8 Derek Brunson (16-4). Not the action that you expected but Silva and Brunson did everything they could to seal the deal, but at the end of the day Silva did enough to edge Brunson on the card. Winner: Anderson Silva (34-8) by Unanimous Decision (29-28,29-28,30-27). – Loser: Derek Brunson (16-5).

Main Event Inaugural Women’s Featherweight Title

#2 (BW) Holly Holm (10-2) Vs #10 (BW) Germaine De Randame (6-3)

In the main event two of the best women in all of MMA fought for the first ever women’s 145 pound title in the UFC. Former bantamweight champion Holly Holm took on Muay Thai champion Germaine De Randame and win or lose these ladies have made history. Two of the best fight for the gold. Into the 1st we go a slow start for both ladies but Holly was the aggressor by throwing more volume of strikes. Randame got in some shots but nothing significant. Into the 2nd we go and its Holm that continues with the high volume of strikes. Germaine seems to be slow getting out of the box. Holm takes the fight to the clinch but the strong defense of Randame keeps the fight standing. The round comes to an end with Holly landing some key knees. But after the bell sounded Germaine throws and lands a big elbow that may have rocked Holly. Into the 3rd we go Holly seemed to have recovered and she’s back to throwing the combos. Germaine starts to feel more comfortable and starts to land more significant shots. As the 3rd round comes to an end Holm rocks Randame and the war of hands starts. But again, after the bell Randame hits Holm with two strikes. That’s two rounds in a row that Germaine has hit Holm after the bell. No point taken away. Into the championship rounds we go, Germaine is starting to become more affective as the fight wears on but Holm is staying very active. The 4th comes to an end in the clench and as we go into the 5th this fight is very close. The 5th and final round for the 1st ever women’s featherweight champion here we go. Holly throws some combos early that helps set up a hug uppercut that rocked Randame right into the clench. After the separation Randame is bloody but has shaken off the cob webs. Back into the clench they go and that’s how the fight ends. Randame and Holm both had their moments, Germaine did have more significant strikes but it was Holm that was more active and started to run away with it in the later rounds. As close it was Germaine De Randame edges out Holm and is your new champion.

Winner:ANDNEW Featherweight Champion Germaine De Randame (7-3) by Unanimous Decision (48-47,48-47,48-47)
Looser: Holly Holm (10-3)
