UFC 216 Official Results, Reebok Sponsorship Payout, Bonuses and Salaries

LAS VEGAS (Sun, October 8, 2017)– UFC 216: Tony Ferguson vs. Kevin Lee took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card aired on pay-per-view while the prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass. UFC officials announced the attendance of 10,638 and a live gate of $677,999.50.

Johnson broke Anderson Silva’s record for most consecutive UFC title defenses when he submitted Ray Borg with a fifth-round armbar.

Ferguson tapped Lee with a third-round triangle choke to become the UFC’s interim lightweight champion. Ferguson is next in line to fight champ Conor McGregor for a title unification bout.

The officials announced the bonuses at the post fight press conference.  Demetrious Johnson, John Moraga, Bobby Green and Lando Vannata each earned an extra $50k fight-night bonuses. Johnson and Moraga earned “Performance of the Night” and Green and Vannata took home “Fight of the Night.”

Fighters took home their UFC Reebok Sponsorship Payout totaling $242,500. Leading the way was UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson who earned a maximum payout of $40,000. Coming in second was Tony Ferguson, Kevin Lee and Ray Borg took home $30,000.

Under the sponsorship deal with Reebok, here are the program’s payout tiers: 1-5 bouts receive $2,500, 6-10 bouts get $5,000, 11-15 bouts earn $10,000, 16-20 bouts pocket $15,000, 21 bouts and more get $20,000. Champions earn $40,000 while title challengers get $30,000. UFC fighters will also receive payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the salaries to FightBookMMA. Tony Ferguson earned a disclosed payout of $500,000 which $250,000 was a win bonus. Lee picked up $250,000 but if he would’ve wom the fight he could’ve earned an extra $50,000 as a win bonus. Total payouts $2,178,000.

The figures don’t include money paid by sponsors, including the Reebok Sponsorship Payout. They also don’t include any other “locker room” or special bonuses the UFC often pays.
